Dr. Smith has known she wanted to be a veterinarian since the age of 10, and spent her teen years working in animal shelters. She later attended the Nova Scotia Agricultural College and earned her DVM from Atlantic Veterinary College in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
After three years as a dairy veterinarian in California, Dr. Smith decided that her interests aligned more with treating companion animals and facilitating the human-animal bond, so she transitioned to small animal practice. She has been working with cats, dogs, and their pet parents ever since, and she loves it! Dr. Smith especially enjoys internal medicine, wound care, and helping to improve the quality of life for senior pets.
When she’s not caring for patients, you can find Dr. Smith on a mountain snowboarding in winter and hiking in summer—or behind the wheel of her converted camper van with her wife and two dogs looking for adventure!
