Part-Time or Full-Time Veterinary Assistant

Job Overview: The Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting the veterinarians and technician staff. Duties will include basic animal care, kennel duties, general hospital cleaning, animal restraint, assisting in the exam rooms and with inpatient care and treatments.

Requirements of position: The ability to follow directions with and without supervision; the ability to lift objects or pets of 30-40 lbs; the ability to sympathetically and patiently treat all animals; the ability to learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions; the ability to learn basic laboratory skills; the ability to learn the basic wellness needs (vaccines, testing, etc) of all species and to provide basic client education; the ability to maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; the ability to provide excellent client service.

Our Veterinary Assistants are a crucial link between the clients and the doctors. They assist our clients throughout the appointment process, providing impeccable client service and reflecting our overall commitment to quality medicine, client service, and education. In addition, a strong commitment to exceptional patient care will be critical to success in this position, as Veterinary Assistants work alongside our doctors and technicians to provide medical care to our amazing patients. As we all work towards maintaining a clean hospital environment, the chosen candidate will be expected to share in those duties.

A preferred candidate will have at least 6 months working as a veterinary assistant in a small-animal setting, but we are willing to train the right person, as cultural fit is critical for our practice. Since client service is a core aspect of this position, exemplary communication skills and a compassionate personality will be crucial to your success in this role.  We are looking for someone who wants a long-term position in a friendly, busy environment.
